Privacy Policy
Effective Date: February 19, 2026 | Last Updated: February 19, 2026
BillTrackr ("we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and disclose information about you when you use the BillTrackr mobile application and related services (collectively, the "Service"). By using BillTrackr, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
1. Information We Collect
Account Information. When you create an account, we collect your name and email address. If you sign in using Google or Apple, we receive your name and email from those providers.
Bill Information. BillTrackr's core function is tracking your bills. We store the bill names, amounts, due dates, and payment history that you enter. We do not access or link to your bank accounts, credit card statements, or any financial institution directly.
Financial Profile. To provide personalized lender recommendations (see Section 3), you may optionally provide:
- Mailing address and ZIP code
- Date of birth
- Self-reported annual income
- Employment status
- Housing status (own or rent)
- Self-reported credit score range
This information is never required to use BillTrackr's core bill-tracking features.
We do NOT collect your:
- Social Security Number (SSN)
- Bank account numbers or routing numbers
- Credit card numbers
- Actual credit report (we use self-reported estimates only)
Usage Data. We may collect information about how you use the app, including which screens you visit and which features you use, to improve the Service. This data is not linked to your financial profile.
Device Information. We may collect basic device information (operating system, app version) for troubleshooting and analytics purposes.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To provide and improve the BillTrackr Service
- To send bill reminders and payment notifications you've opted into
- To calculate debt analysis, scenario modeling, and personalized insights
- To show you mortgage and loan rate information (sourced from the Federal Reserve via FRED API)
- To match you with lender offers when you explicitly request them (see Section 3)
- To respond to your support requests
- To comply with our legal obligations
3. Lender Marketplace & Third-Party Sharing
BillTrackr's Lender Directory connects you with lenders who may be able to help you reduce your interest rates or consolidate your debt. This feature is powered by Engine by MoneyLion, a licensed financial marketplace platform.
How it works: When you tap "Find Real Offers," BillTrackr will:
- Ask you to complete your financial profile (if not already done)
- Present required consent language under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA)
- Send your profile to Engine by MoneyLion's API only after you explicitly consent
- Display personalized loan and credit offers returned from Engine's network of lenders
FCRA Consent. To retrieve pre-qualified and pre-approved offers, Engine by MoneyLion and its lending partners must perform a soft credit inquiry using the information you provide. This requires your explicit written consent under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. You will be shown the exact consent language before any information is shared. Your consent record, including a timestamp and the language you agreed to, is stored securely.
TCPA Consent. You may optionally consent to being contacted by lenders by phone or SMS regarding offers. This consent is separate from and not required to see lender offers.
What we share with Engine. When you consent, we share: your name, email, address, date of birth, income, employment, housing status, credit score estimate, and the loan type you're seeking. We do not share your SSN or actual bill payment history with Engine.
Revenue disclosure. BillTrackr may receive compensation from Engine by MoneyLion when you click to apply with a lender. This compensation does not influence the lenders or rates displayed — that is determined by Engine's algorithm and the lenders' own criteria. BillTrackr is a free app; this compensation helps us keep it free.
When you click "Apply Now" on a lender offer, you will be directed to the lender's website. That lender's privacy policy governs the information you provide to them directly.
4. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored in a secure PostgreSQL database. We use industry-standard security practices including encrypted connections (TLS/HTTPS), hashed passwords (bcrypt), and access controls. We do not store passwords in plain text.
Authentication tokens (JWTs) are stored securely on your device and expire periodically.
No system is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee the security of your information against all threats, but we take commercially reasonable steps to protect it.
5. Data Retention
We retain your account information and bill data for as long as your account is active, or as needed to provide the Service. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal information within 30 days, except:
- FCRA and TCPA consent records, which we are legally required to retain even after account deletion
- Anonymized, aggregated analytics data (no personally identifiable information)
6. Your Rights and Choices
Access and correction. You can view and update your personal information at any time within the BillTrackr app under Settings → Account.
Deletion. You can delete your account and all associated data from Settings → Account → Delete Account. Note that FCRA consent records cannot be deleted as a legal requirement.
Notifications. You can disable bill reminders and notifications within the app under Settings → Notifications.
Lender matching opt-out. Simply do not use the "Find Real Offers" feature. We will never share your financial information with Engine or any third party without your explicit, affirmative consent.
7. Children's Privacy
BillTrackr is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under 18, we will delete it promptly.
8. Third-Party Services
BillTrackr uses the following third-party services that may process data on our behalf:
- Google Sign-In / Apple Sign-In — Authentication only. Subject to Google's and Apple's respective privacy policies.
- Federal Reserve (FRED API) — We fetch publicly available mortgage rate data. No user data is sent to FRED.
- Resend — Email delivery service used to send bill reminders (if email reminders are enabled). Your email address is shared with Resend for delivery purposes.
- Engine by MoneyLion — Lending marketplace (see Section 3). Only accessed with your explicit consent.
9. California Privacy Rights (CCPA)
If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect and how we use it, the right to request deletion of your personal information, and the right to opt out of the sale of your personal information. BillTrackr does not sell your personal information. To exercise your rights, contact us at the email below.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you through the app or by email. Continued use of BillTrackr after the effective date of any update constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
